Post Graduate Diploma In Electricity Regulation (PGDER)
The main objective of this course is to create awareness and understanding of issues related with power sector amongst the personnel & throughout India. This course is designed to fulfill the aspiration of the power industry and bridge the demand supply gap of the train manpower of this sector. The programme offers a unique blend of knowledge related to the Regulatory issues of Generation, Transmission, Distribution & Power Trading which are a must to known the nagging problems of the sector. The course will also help in understanding the need and importance of Regulation of Power sector in Indian context and provide important insight into the actual working of regulatory framework.

Module I : Basic Power System Operation

  2. Grid Operation / Load Despatch
  3. Demand side Management/ Energy Efficiency
  4. Renewable Energy Sources/ Co-Generation
  5. System Performance Indices

 
Module II : Economics & Finance for Power System
  1. Fundamentals of power sector, economics and finance
  2. Energy Accounting / Balancing Settlement
  3. Power Pricing / tariff determination
  4. Electricity Trading and Power Exchanges
  5. Power Purchase Agreement
  6. Overview of Project Financing
Module III : Legal Framework for Power Sector
  1. Overview of Constitution of India/ Administrative Law
  2. Electricity Act 2003/ Electricity Rules 1956
  3. Functioning of High Court/ Supreme Court
  4. Consumer Rights Protection (CGRF/ Ombudsman)
Module IV : Policy Framework in Power Sector
  1. Overview of various Authorities (MOP/ CEA/ STU/ CTU/ SERC/ CERC etc.)
  2. National Tariff Policy and National Electricity Policy/ Tariff Regulations/Multi-year framework
  3. Overview of SERC/CERC Regulations
  4. Energy Conservation Act 2001
  5. Rural Electrification Policy
  6. Renewable Energy Policy
  7. GOM IPP/ CPP Policy
  8. Electric Power Survey (CEA)
  9. Tariff based competitive guidelines
Module V : Project Work - Topic to be decided in due course

At the end of the course written examination will be conducted based on the above syllabus.

PGDER
Eligibility A Graduate of any discipline or equivalent . Preferably having minimum 2 yrs experience in relevant fields or A Diploma in Engineering with 5 yrs experience in relevant fields.

Admission Procedure :
Post Graduate Diploma in Electricity Regulation
  1. The prescribed Application Form to be filled in and the applicants to appear for an Entrance Interview.
  2. Selected students to submit self certified copies of the certificates and two passport size photographs alongwith full Course fee within a week’s time.
  3. Admissions will be strictly on first-come and first-serve basis, as seats are limited.
